Bangladesh Funeral Services (BFS) is a not for profit organization. In case of death of any family member, BFS members will bear the necessary expenditure involved in burial, so the family should not feel helpless due to uncertain circumstances created by financial burden. This great cause will hopefully be transferred to next generation as a SADQA – A – JARIA. Inshallah. So let us join hand to hand to our great cause of BFS. As we all have to face death one day or the other.
In extraordinary circumstances where many members pass away at once (due to natural disasters, pandemics, large-scale accidents etc), BFS may not be able to provide its full services or financial assistance. In these cases, partial aid may be provided based on majority members' consent.
Funeral is processed according to Sunni Muslim practice.
BFS does not promote embalming of the deceased for transporting overseas.
And BFS will not carry any such cost to transport deceased from/to outside BFS coverage area/out side Canada.
Members/Volunteers must follow Mosque Mortuary Room Hygenic procedures as instructed by the Funeral Coordinator.
Members/Volunteers must adhere to confidentiality rules and not share or disclose any info about bathing of the deceased.
Deceased body can usually be stored at Mosque Cold Room for one night.

In case of BFS member’s death, BFS will pay the average funeral expanses of the city/area where the member died including purchase of graveyard and later on, this cost will be equally shared among all principal applicants and their share amount will be withdrawn after 72 hours of Salah-tul-Janaza information. Collection will be made through electronic fund transfer. Member is responsible for NSF charges if banking information update was not provided at least 30 days prior to charges. With growth of memberships, inflation and cost of burial - the coverage amount may be changed in future with majority members consent.
We have started the coverage since January 1, 2021. For now we will use a mixed method for the coverage. In case of a member's death we will request existing members to donate $25 and cover the rest of the cost through a fundraising using the BCCB platform. We will not need this fundraising once we reach 300 members.
There will be a cost of around CA$3000 for maintaining our web site, bank fees, EFT processing company fees, courier charges and other operational cost.
This cost will be shared among all members beginning of each year. This is an one time yearly cost. (example: if total members are 600, we will charge you CA$5.00).
Submit claim form and supporting documents to BFS’s Treasurer.
Members dying abroad while permanently relocated/living abroad will only be covered up to CAN $6,000.
