If a member is from outside the coverage area or dies outside the coverage area while travelling, they will be able to claim the funeral cost up to a maximum of Can $6,000 by submitting the claim form. Yes, the member will receive the financial benefits anywhere in Canada. The service benefits will be provided only if there are assigned local volunteers and MOU with local muslim funeral service providers.
In order to become a member you must fill up a member registration form and pay a $105 (CAD) fee for principal member of the family and $15 for each family member (spouse and children only). This fee is non-refundable after the first year and it is a “One time” fee.

In case of BFS member death BFS will inform to all the members by email, text messages or telephone about Salah-tul-Janaza's location, date and time. BFS will pay funeral expenses based on the average expense of the diseased city/area and later on, all expenses will be divided to all members equally. The share of each member of BFS will then be withdrawal from their bank account after 72 hours of this information. That is why BFS requires from all main applicants to attach a void cheque with their application.

In case of death BFS will be able to contact your friend to get information regarding burial arrangements and to fill out relevant documents. Otherwise your friends could help inform BFS about its member.

If the member has mentioned in his/ her will that he/ she would prefer to be buried in his/her back homeland, ​ BFS will still need to do all religious formalities such as bath and Janaja and hand over to shipping agent or family for sending body to back home. BFS will not contribute any financial assistant to send any deceased to back home.

Dial 911 for emergency assistance (an ambulance, the fire department or the police) and a coroner (Investigation Officer) will come to your home and will sign a death certificate which gives you permission to contact a funeral home to make arrangements to transfer your loved one. Or, they may decide that an autopsy is required. If permission is given, BFS shall contact to the relevant mosque, and will inform them of his/her death. BFS will then make burial arrangements with the help of a family member or relative. If an autopsy is required: Your loved one will be taken to the hospital for autopsy. During that time BFS will contact to the relevant mosque to inform them about the death. After the autopsy has taken place and the doctor has signed the death certificate, BFS will make burial arrangements with the help of a family member or relative.
According to Canadian law your property does not transfer automatically to your loved ones if you pass away, and to legally transfer the property a "Will" is needed. The Will can be written by yourself or through a Lawyer, so that your family is given full access to your assets after your death.
